We learned from Charles Darwin that the survival of a species depends of diversity of its population.

While you may not have thought of it; It also applies to our computer infrastructure.

If one wants to keep their hardware/software safe, you need computer diversity. Today's computers are NOT diverse at all. They are so similar that a malware or trojan program can take them down.

Back in the 1980s..... Not as much as almost every computer was a uniquely diverse. What good would an Apple II Malware program be to a Commodore 64? While both used MOS 6502 chip families. the Apple's architecture was different enough to make a generic malware or virii almost impossible to create.

If we are to protect our technology, we need to diversify.

Yes, I will be demonstrating my Commodore 64c soon. I just need to find a place to set it up.
