Interacting with your Chromakey backgrounds w/Michele Marie (+playlist)

You got a background. but now.... How do you interact with it? While this background was a static one. (it was the one I used in my  latest video) "the road ahead, where do we go now?", Michele shows us how to make it look like you are really on the road itself. (well, within reason since our studio wasn't big enough to show our full body.

Video is like stage magic as it is part illusion and part pretend. Every Actor/Actress wants to give you the true feeling that they are their character. That includes that interaction with the background also needs to be convincing as well.

How Camera position changes your video composition

Shot with the same background, set at the same position. Only the camera was moved 25 feet back (in the beginning) to make me smaller. followed by the camera being placed less than 8 feet away from me. You can see how it changes the dynamics of the subject (me) in the shots.

Composing a shot when using backgrounds, fatties, Dee Dee

I talk about composition when using a background as a key piece of your shot. These guidelines apply if you are using a virtual or actual background. +Shure M-68 mixer review, Weather news, Hollywood Hillbies

Today I show you my new, to me anyway, Shure M-68 Microphone mixer. My model has the 5 MALE XLR plugs vs the Shure M-68FC that has the mic inputs as FEMALE XLR. (insides, they are the same.)

This is a very nice basic mixer for when you need to add more inputs. You can find these fairly cheap on ebay.

Get Ready for Winter storm PAX. It looks like a nice birthday present for me.

How to make a good video on YouTube

How do you make a good video for YouTube?

I will take the time to explain the steps anyone should consider if they want to make a video that shows careful design and implementation.

Lets face it, YouTube is becoming more and more sophisticated as a medium. This means that you have to compete with more and more producers every day.

If you want to build an audience, you need to think outside the basic "birthday party" video. YouTube viewers are seeing more and more professional works from Disney and other production companies and they want to see videos of higher quality.

I take the time to explain steps that anyone should consider if they want to make a video that is of higher quality than the usual family video quality.

This will be part of a larger project that shows that even with basic cinematography knowledge that you can transition your film skills to video production.

I have shot film for many years and for me, transition to video was a matter of finding the equipment that I liked using. My Bell and Howell HR16 filmo  16mm movie camera skills, migrate fairly easily to anyone using a Digital video camera that allows for full manual or semi-automatic operation. What I use for equipment may not interest you but, you can use whatever equipment you like. You need to feel comfortable with your gear. Equipment is a personal thing and no one should judge another's choices.

These tips also work for those who want to continue to shoot film and later transfer the finished product to YouTube as well.

The real key of a good video is planning and a good story design.

The real cause of obesity, as seen from the obese persective

On February 4, 2014, the United Nations, World Health Organization says that contries need to better regulate the fast food industry to reverse the Obesity trend.

My opinion "BULLSHIT!" the problem isn't just the fast food. it is the way our world has become so lazy, thanks in part to modern technology.

Yet, we eat like we are still common labor and farm workers.

Don't blame the fast food for all of our woes, blame it on ourselves too.

I am fat and I believe that our government is not doing enough to get the average person off their butts by giving them a desire to be active.


I am a fatty and I can speak for my people in this area. I hate being fat and having nothing to do, Did I forget I am legally blind which makes me useless to most companies?

Well, I am working to get things done and yes, my videos are how I show my talents, and maybe someday, Lumi and I will have a honest to god paying job that allows us to be more physically active.

Crop to Crap and Weather news for 02/03/2014

iMovie 9 does things to my video that makes it unsuitable for me. As Lumi states about what it does to the raw footage, "It crops it to crap."

This video was recorded by our Formac FS10 software and the raw.dv fed into iMovie 6-HD. The few clips from an earlier studio were shot in IMovie 9. which as you can see, butchers the video.

Second part is about the current snow we are having today.

IN this video.
1. Pirate copies of Frozen are showing up! that is, to me, a really BAD thing!
2. Walt Disney is releasing a Deluxe 3 LP set of the Frozen Sound track. The price may be a bit high but I stil want it. Why are you charging so much for a 3LP record set?
