bcast02272016Answers to John Kras, the questions I missed last night
I was asked questions last night that I did not notice until after I closed my video. For that reason, I decided to make this addendum video, the next day.
I also cover a few other topics such as !. What streaming protocol does YouTube use. 2. Is there any PowerPC Mac or PowerPc Linux program that supports this protocol? 3. Why does this streaming software have to be so difficult to locate that works with a PowerPC G5 mac in OS X 10.5.8?! Even programs in open source are almost impossible to locate. ARGH! 4. On the Debian Wheezy PowerPC side... what software do I need? can VLC do this streaming? What are the required settings for Linux VLC. I got FFMPEG too. what do I configure if need to use it as the shim? Post your help below if you can. I am out of ideas!
vlog02222016Don't forget, Ask us Anything on Friday at 7PM Eastern

You got questions, we may have the answers, this event is basically an open event to any questions you may have.
be it politics, spirituality, technology or just to get to know Me, Lumi and Dory a bit better. Dory may not be here so... it will be Lumi and Myself hosting this.
This event will be asking for you to email the questions in advance or call us on the phone at the day of the event. My phone number will be given out at the event time for you to call us.
Again, it will be on February 26, 2016 at 7PM eastern Time. I will do my best to post the link for the facebookers to join us on Google+ or watch it via YouTube streaming.
The Mac won't be attended to so sending live comments won't do any good as the iMac is located in a different room that where we will be filming. it will be only used as a streamer.
so. Get your questions in early. or you can call us live during the event.
bcast02192016Video Timebase conversion on the cheap
Ah the rub! you want to import a NTSC video into final cut express and you shoot PAL? Well, I show you a little way to keep your timecode and timebase proper. I also show you how you can make a simple video magnifier using some cameras and a video capture dongle. I will be working on the demo very shortly.
Lastly, I show you an improvement on my use of chromakey and why I have a hard time using it for most of my work.
The Multimedia studio is again up and working. This is the first video from the studio, it was offline for several months as I wanted to get more light fixtures and new bulbs.
Dory Miville joins me and Lumi. she is looking for someone to take an older cat or to give her video ideas.. you can contact her at.

bcast02122016UVC video capture dongle test and review
Today, I test a low cost USB video capture dongle. it is a generic UVC (USB Video Class) dongle. The output is 640x480 and the two audio plugs are downmixed to mono, I use mono anyway so NBD for me.
Feeds directly into Quicktime, and yes, it works with Google Hangouts on Firefox.
The USB Audio output works directly with Audacity as well.
Not a bad ditty for the price. the PC driver disk isn't any use to me though.
Works with PAL/NTSC and possibly SECAM. Works with both NTSC Monochrome and Color inputs.
No drivers required to use and it is PowerPC/Linux compatible.
bcast02072016Catholic mass and Rasberry Pi computer ideas
I went to mass tonight. The changes to the service left me a little bewildered. Biggest problem was that I had a hard time hearing the mass. None the less, I felt it was a good thing for me to go to mass, which I haven''t been to since about 2007 (I think).
We got more snow coming and more than likely, the Open Door soup Kitchen won't be open tomorrow.
I am considering getting a Raspberry PI B+ computer board with either Rasbian or NOOBS to run a low power Apache web server. My web site would be mostly HTML text so I would not need to worry about needing fancy PHP scripting. This small board could be powered by several NiMH or NIcad batteries that are float charged and allow the computer to run even if the mains fail.
This is the First bcast that was done at the Soup Kitchen. It, like most of my bcasts, is a bit long. Here is a short synopsis. Watch the Bcast for more.
Originally shot in 640x480@30FPS. Rerendered into 720x576@25FPS PAL format. Uploaded to YouTube in 100% mpeg Streamclip. as Progressive scan. (like I normally do but usually use 50% quality as I don't have Google Fiber or FIOS. Just standard ADSL 2+ from Frontier.
The topics covered include: JCPenny wants over $121 which I cannot do unless I don't pay my electric bill. (that would mean that I need alternative energy if I go that route.
I still could use some donations. Can you spare a $10? if enough of my subscribers gave $10. I could pay my JCPenny bill in FULL! the remainder of the donations could be used to improve our production facilities.
What is Duckpin bowling? A smaller pin and ball that is a regional sport. Sadly, the only automated Pinsetter Manufacturer closed in the 1970s and existing alley's have to find old equipment parts to keep the pinsetters working. Wonder why AMF and the other major bowling equipment manufacturers don't come up with a pinsetter that is a modified version of their mainline equipment?
There are still a few human pinsetter bowling lanes around. The Best known is SouthPort in Chicago Illinois and Holler House in Milwaukee Wisconsin. An Elks Club in Pennsylvania also have human pinsetters. These are for full size Ten Pin bowling. One DuckPin alley also has human pinsetters in Massachusetts.
Weird weather of note. It snowed in Vietnam! 20cm of it! They are not prepared for that and their farms and livestock are in trouble!
Ted Cruz got Iowa, Donald Trump still is in good shape if he gets New Hampshire. Hillary Clinton got a 0.2% lead over Sanders.
